What is the CoverTech Portable Golf Cart Shelter?
The CoverTech Portable Golf Cart Shelter — also referred to as a portable golf cart garage — is a freestanding, fully enclosed structure designed to protect a golf cart from sun, rain, dust, and wind. It is manufactured by CoverTech SA in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, and is available in single bay, double bay, and custom configurations.
The Single Bay model accommodates one standard golf cart and is priced from R 18,999. The Double Bay model accommodates two golf carts side by side and is priced from R 32,999. Custom configurations are available for non-standard requirements and are priced on request.
Construction and materials
Each shelter is built on a powder-coated aluminium alloy frame. Aluminium is used because it is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and structurally strong without requiring a heavy or permanent base. The frame is powder-coated for additional weather resistance.
The covering is heavy-duty UV-stabilised PVC canvas. PVC canvas is waterproof, tear-resistant, and treated to resist UV degradation — a relevant consideration in the South African climate. The canvas is available in five standard colours: Charcoal Grey, White, Forest Green, Navy Blue, and Sand/Beige. A custom canvas colour is available on request.
Portability and installation
The shelter is fully portable. It assembles on any flat surface — paved, tiled, or compacted — and requires no concrete foundation, no building work, and no council approval. No building plans are required. It can be disassembled and relocated if your circumstances change.
An optional ground anchoring kit is available for high-wind or exposed sites. This provides additional stability without any permanent fixing to the ground.
Who uses the CoverTech shelter?
The CoverTech Portable Golf Cart Shelter is used at private homes, golf estates, golf clubs, retirement estates, residential estates, resorts, and farms across South Africa. It is suited to any property where a golf cart needs weatherproof storage but where permanent construction is not practical, permitted, or desired.
CoverTech SA is based in Pretoria, Gauteng, and delivers and installs nationwide across South Africa.
How is it different from a golf cart cover?
A fabric golf cart cover is a loose drape placed over the cart. It offers limited protection: it can be displaced by wind, does not seal out dust, and provides no structural enclosure. It also requires the user to fit and remove it each time the cart is used.
The CoverTech shelter is a freestanding structure with a rigid aluminium frame and fixed PVC canvas panels. The cart is driven in and out through the open front. The shelter remains in place, provides consistent enclosure on all sides and overhead, and does not need to be fitted or removed daily.
How is it different from a gazebo or shadeport?
A gazebo is an open-sided or partially open decorative structure, typically designed for outdoor seating. A shadeport provides overhead shade but has open sides. Neither is designed to enclose a vehicle or provide protection from wind-driven rain and dust.
The CoverTech shelter is purpose-built for vehicle storage. It is fully enclosed on three sides and overhead, with a front opening sized for a golf cart. This provides all-round weather protection that an open-sided structure cannot.
How is it different from a permanent garage or carport?
A permanent garage or carport requires a concrete foundation, building plans, council approval, and construction work. It is fixed to the property and cannot be relocated. The cost and time involved make it impractical for many homeowners, estate residents, and property managers — particularly where the cart is a secondary vehicle or where the owner may move.
The CoverTech Portable Golf Cart Shelter requires none of this. It assembles on any flat surface, needs no foundation or approval, and can be moved. It provides enclosed, weatherproof storage for a golf cart at a fraction of the cost and complexity of permanent construction. The Single Bay model starts from R 18,999, including the aluminium frame and PVC canvas structure.
